Assessment is key to providing some level of validation of knowledge, however, it is important that the learner recognises the difference between assessment and a test.
The Cognito assessment methodology does not ambush the learner into delivering an immediate answer either through a timer or an inability to change an answer before submission.
The learner can take their time and even do research before answering, which often promotes two important reactions:
Firstly, it creates an opportunity for self-education and socialised learning in situations where they can discuss with colleagues. This is a positive reaction, promoting engagement and will aid the retention of that knowledge as well as driving a more proactive culture of learning.
Secondly, it promotes a positive experience and desire to improve, as opposed to the negativity and low-trust factor that can occur from employees who believe they are simply being tested by their employer.
- Higher engagement and acceptance
- Assists in developing a learning culture
- Allows employers to mitigate negativity
